Likes a moist but well drained soil in sun, however it will bloom longer if given some light shade for at least the hottest part of the day. It pefers to be out of the wind and in frost prone areas will either need to be brought indoors for winter or treated like an annual.
Sow seed in moist compost indoors about 2 months before the last frosts. Like so many Southern African plants it blooms it's little head off in quite a range of conditions.
