Just a total surprise as it is a somewhat obscure tropical fruiting tree and no photo on the net i have seen shows the real beauty of the foliage EXCEPT mine,IF I do say so myself-lol. From what i have been told Santol is a favorite of the Filipino culture as it is native to the Philippines. Santol fruit comes in two forms..one sweet ,one sour. Sweet is much prefered. It is also said to be slow to mature and fruit-up to ten years is the wait more or less. The fruit are difficult to peel. A large, long lived, great looking tree.
2016 update: I'm still here. oh the plant? Its been planted outdoors here in the SF bay area as it outgrew indoors- 7'. As expected the indoor foliage has been shed acclimating and as of early spring,I see it swelling with new leaves.
Very marginal, will keep you posted.
