| A note from Groundnutman: |
"If you are interested in the Ground Nut plant (apios tuberosa/apios americana) please visit my website:
//www.groundnutgardens.com
There you can learn more about this fascinating plant that is aboriginal to North America, going back at least 9000 years.
At one time it was a primary food source for the early Native Americans and later the European colonists. It can be used as an ornemental flowering vine or you can grow the tubers (the "nuts") to eat. They were the Indian's potato but recent research indicates they are very healthy for us and among other things they contain cancer fighting isoflavones. They also have approximately three times the protein of potatoes.
We sell not only the plants but an inexpensive pamphlet that tells everything you need to know about the plant: how to find it, how to cook it and how to plant and grow it. We even have colorful Ground Nut Note Cards to impress your friends. Please pay us a visit." |
