This is a picture of a globe artichoke shrub I would call it. It has brown straw like flower but it blooms into a yellow or pink flower after the bulb here has been opened.

4 foot tall with multiple flowerheads in July. Excellent specimen plant. Deadheading lenghthens bloom time.
I bouhgt as "Globe Centaurea".

5 days from seed. These produce large seedlings. The leaves are about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide.
