Fairy Duster 'Sierra Starr™' has produced flushes of bright true red (doesn't upload well) blooms like these with few days between them in 100 degree temperatures that have persisted for weeks.

Fairy Duster 'Sierra Starr™' (Calliandra) has such small leaflets that raindrops tend to stay on them for a while rather than rolling off ... as shown here, they sparkle and magnify the leaflets

Red Powder Puff Hybrid 'Sierra Starr' (Calliandra) has blooms on it after many freezing and below temperatues. A bloom and leaves encased in ice look like Christmas ornaments after a sleet/freezing rain storm ...

This 'Sierra Starr™' Calliandra has been in the ground now for a little over 3 years, has grown rather quickly and blooms profusely. Besides the open blooms, there are 100s of bloom buds on it.

This is the same Fairy Duster Hybrid, Red Fairy Duster Hybrid, Red Powder Puff Hybrid 'Sierra Starr' Calliandra as in my other photos. It is so large now that I have to trim it back.

During this winter, the branches pulled themselves upward and over towards each other from all sides forming arches that met at the top middle of the plant. The branches, over time, formed what appeared to be an onion shape. This is opposite to the way it grows. Perhaps this happened as the plant tried to protect its base from the cold.
