I pulled a baby A americana from the sand dunes on the beach
and put it in a pot. It had been growing steadily since in that pot of potting soil and fresh water.

crowded bunch of bulbils in this mature flower stalk, April in Southern Califronia. All those will fall off and possibly root, making this plant doubly invasive.
