Iochroma Cyaneum....dark purple blooms.
This shrub is in my yard in sandy soil on the eastern side of the property. I live in Southern California and only have to water this plant a few times a week from late spring until mid fall.

I found these to be messy plants unless you train it as a single stemmed standard.

This photo was taken a few days after taking the cutting. Blooms look more shriveled than they are in reality. Very pretty clusters of tubular flowers.

Iochroma flowering after a year's rest. After hurricane Wilma it went into shock and didn't flower until now.
