This plant is protected by laws, since it lives on the beach sands, places where the human influence is always destructive.

This is a protected species, but unfortunately it´s too invasive to cultivate, and won´t survive well in other conditions that are not optimal to it. Rio de Janeiro, late spring.

Called Beach Glories by locals, these seem to bloom year round at Matagorda Island Beach. The leaves resemble bay grape leaves. In some places there are hundreds of flowers.

This Ipomoea was started from a seed sown in March.5 mos. later, it bloomed. I used commercial potting soil and am growing it in a clay pot. I will continue with a clay pot when transplanting is advis
