These beauties are the known for their sweet scent. They are also edible in salads, or jelly can be made out of them. Their heart-shaped leaves make darling nosegay bouquets when surrounding the blooms.

This is the first sweet violet bloom completely open on January 19, 2004. It is wonderful to be able to see the center of this small bloom up close. I could not see its detail and beauty with the naked eye. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Side view of a bloom in March ... the color of the bloom is solid purple like on the tips of the petals. The flash lightened the other part of the bloom so one can see the texture. (San Antonio, Tx.)
