This plant provides outstanding color and textural interest. Growing in a container so I can overwinter it, contrasts nicely bright green leaves of the penta (and coordinates with the pink penta blooms) and the begonias in the foreground.

April 2004 - still very young plants, but I'm anxious to see how these will take the sun and heat. They'll be in partial sun most of the day until they get established.

These 2 beefsteak plants 'Magilla' (Perilla) were the same colors when I bought them. The one on the left has been in shade and the one on the right in sun. Note the difference in the foliage color.

Compare this photo to the one shown on May 29, 2005. I placed the one that had been in the shade next to the one receiving more light. The foliage has the same colors after about 10 days.
