The interesting bark is even more noticeable on the trunk of the tree. The fruits ripen while the flowers are opening during autumn.

I think my tree may be the cultivar Arbutus unedo 'Rubra' as the flowers are so pink, although it wasn't labelled as such when i bought it. This cultivar is more compact and freer fruiting than the type.
