We saw this growing in profuse clumps and blooming March 13, 2004 in Darlington County South Carolina. Prior to the flwoers its reddish stems gave it an attractive glow of color.

Some fruits in July. These smallish trees can yield a half-bushel of small, tart, firm fruit.

To me, the fruit taste best while it's changing from yellow to red. Once they're fully red they are kinda mushy.
