My Plumosas are 3 years old. This one has bloomed twice now from heavy rain in late September. I grow in medium shade spring through summer and winter them in the greenhouse. Picture taken on 10/5/2002 zone 7 Atlanta, GA.

This Asparagus Plumosa Fern is growing on a rock as a bonsai. In a miniature setting, the Plumosa looks very convincingly like the trees growing in the mountains of Japan. Great plant for shohin bonsai.

This is a plumosa fern that has been in my family for about 55 years. My uncle had it for many years but I don't think he was aware it was a climber (he cut them off,I guess)! He moved to Florida and didn't want to take it so he gave it to me and I kept my fingers crossed that I wouldn't kill it. It was in desperate need of repotting and I cleaned out the dead foliage as well. As you can see, it is now one happy plant! Hopefully, "Fernie" will last another 50 years!

Over 30 yo Asparagus Fern, saved from the trash when people moved. Loves sun! Water only when plant is dry, and then over water. Divides well. I've got 2 cats, and neither has been poisoned by it. 4 feet across in dimension after dividing it last spring, 2003.
