This variety has an especially deep blue color when blooms are full sized. Smaller, immature flowers can be a beautiful pale or "baby blue". As you may see just 4 plants completely consumed my mailbox~!! Be careful where you plant these as they produce lots of seed which would appear to have a 100% germination rate.

Empty seedpod of Ipomoea purpurea showing walls of the 3 locules centered atop the dried sepals...this was an unusual pod in that each locule contained 3 ovules and resultant seeds instead of the usual 2 ovules and seeds per locule...9 seeds total from this pod instead of the usual 6 seeds total per pod
