Trachycarpus Bulgaria grown from seed in the ground since february 1999 in Asenovgrad near Plovdiv. All leaves are from the current growing season, old ones were removed.

Regular Fortunei in front, Nainital left to the big Bulgarian palm. The Fortunei have some cold damage during the years and is growing slower, but faster than Nainital.

The palm on the left is described by Russian scientists as Tr. excelsa and is the male father of Tr. Bulgaria. They say it's hardier and bigger than other varieties. The one on the right is Bulgarian.
