A view of Australian Pine, Horsetail Casuarina, Horsetail She-Oak, Ironwood (Casuarina equisetifolia) wispy, soft, pine-like, jointed branchlets. Each joint has small "teeth" which are the leaves. (Observed at the Kula Botanical Garden in Maui)

Australian Pine, Horsetail Casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia) branchlets resemble jointed rushes being ringed at their nodes by tightly overlapping tiny scale-like leaves. As observed at the Kula Botanical Gardens in Maui, Hawaii in October.
