I believe this plant is growing spontaneously on this site, since it´s not exaclt a very valuable species, ornametally wise, like the other plants around it. Rio de Janeiro, early summer.

Closeup showing a red ripe jalapeno, next to a dark greenish-brown one getting ready to turn. The brown lines (corking) seen on the two fruits is fine, even considered desirable by some.
