yes, it's really this blue and silvery. this is an AWESOME plant. the finches love it too, in the fall they cling onto the head and eat the seeds.

The bract is feathery soft, not spiny. This bract is not mature & has not changed color, yet will later turn blue

The buds start out green and progress to purple-blue.
