Why not plant this western "sugar" maple - ACER GRANDIDENTAUM, if you live in the western U.S.? It turns a lovely yellow in the fall, so a darker background makes it pop.

Looking forward to the shade and the privacy as this Canyon Maple (ACER GRANDIDENTATUM), a western U.S. version of the sugar maple. This tree turns heads in the fall when the leaves gradually turn shades of rust and then a brilliant yellow gold.
