This jack-in-the-pulpit was well hidden under its leaves and those of surrounding plants. I found it early in the summer and watched it. This is what it looked like August 4th. Picture taken in New Vineyard, Maine

This grows from under the neighboring andromeda in fairly direct sun for most of the day. Soil is also pretty dry but borders a swale which gets wet during rain. Am in western NJ. on Delaware R.
