Dryopteris Species, Leather Wood Fern, Evergreen Wood Fern, Marginal Shield Fern (Dryopteris marginalis)

Common to our area, we call this Marginal Shield Fern here in Missouri. Stays pretty much evergreen all winter, and then I cut the old fronds off as the new fiddleheads emerge in spring.

I keep this fern in a pot in a sheltered patio. It is very sensitive to summer's dry heat.
