This tree can grow up to 80 feet tall. This one near the UCLA medical center, California, is just about that tall.

This tree loses its leaves in summer and immediately comes into flower. Over several weeks the flowers drop and are replaced by new leaves.

Always wear gloves when handling the seeds as they are covered with fine, irritating hairs.

Each flower is between two and a half and three inches across and although there is no perfume, they are highly attractive to bees.
