This is a potentially invasive tree which is hard to use in landscapes and impossible to garden around because of shallow roots. Nevertheless, it has its moments.

As a single specimen in parks or large gardens, this cultivar is fine. But in a suburban garden, this tree is a black hole. A brooding presence.

Foliage is big and dark and in full sun it stays dark all season. Fall color isn't appreciably different from summer color.
