C...Read Moreornwall, UK is zone 9b, but the gloomy wet weather makes succulents such as this much more susceptible to frost damage and rotting than in the US. Here, these plants are regarded as greenhouse plants, but they survived -4 C outdoors with little to no damage, and are showing flower buds (February).
Gardeners in wetter zone 9 climates should give the various Mexican succulents a try - even if it means a little protection during hard frosts.

THey are surprisingly hardy for how delicate they are. Leaves almost a light purple color in sunlight (more turquoise in shade) and flowers always point to the sun with a characteristic droop to them.
