Well, I did get 1 edible watermelon about 6 inches in diameter. It was also tasty. There were others that didn't have a chance to ripen before frost. I was a bit late planting them and could probably have improved their growing situation, but I am extremely excited to find that I can grow watermelons here. I planted a couple other small varieties which did not set fruit at all. If you have a short growing system, I recommend this little melon. I will plant it earlier next year, feed it more and try to give it more space from the squashes.
This is a great ice-box type melon and is indeed well-suited for cooler areas and high altitudes.

Sweet red flesh, very dark green skin, round fruit to 30cm, early maturing Russian favourite, is well suited to cooler areas. 80-90 days.
