The flowers were almost wisteria-type hanging clusters of very pretty blue-violet star-shaped flowers with orange centers. They also had some red berries, as these form towards the end of the year. In my area, in a mild winter they may grow right through the winter. In colder weather, they will die back but can grow to 15 ft in one season. This is described as a "shrubby vine" in some places, needing to be trained onto a trellis and maybe even pruned to keep from being too shrubby. It is related to the kitchen potato, tomatoes, and Deadly Nightshade. Toxicity is debatable: Solanum crispum in particular is not regarded as a health hazard, while all parts of the plants of the genus are considered toxic. As soon as mine start growing I'll post some pictures.
