This native species however is actually being used as a premium turfgrass at coastal golf courses in florida and can reportedly be irrigated with salt water as it is very salt tolerant. It is available from a limited amount of sources as sod. Having seen this grass in use in a site with no maintenance other than mowing, I can say this is a good looking turf and although I am unaware of what it's soil requirments and other requirements are, if it will grow at my future homesite, which is far inland, I will be using it.
