Aurora is one of the Stellar Dogwoods, spectacular hybrids that are floriferous and highly pest- and disease-resistant. After more than 25 years of crossing strains of C. florida and C. kousa, Dr. Elwin Orton developed a hybrid series more floriferous, pest and disease resistant, and vigorous than their North American or Chinese parents.
Highly resistant to Anthracnose and borers, they also boast nearly twice the growth rate of either species. And their bloom is magnificent! Over a 2 week season in late spring, they produce an incredible bounty of flowers. Plant them with spring blooming C. florida and early summer blooming C. kousa to enjoy weeks of continual flowers.
The form of Cornus Aurora is upright but wide spreading, reaching 18 by 20 feet. Zones 5-8.
