Found vine borers in the stems and assumed they were goners. They kept on going for two more months! Drought hit in July and along came the worst powdery mildew I've ever seen. Death knell? Heck no! We couldn't keep up with the yield, and they were delicious. Tried a different variety last year and regretted it--rotting unfertilized fruits, giant spiny stalks, and they were taken out by the squash borer/bug combo by August. Going back to Sure Thing this spring.
