Generally, Hexalectris have larger, showier flowers than Corallorhiza. This particular species is the most common in the US and among the showiest. They grow in open mixed woodlands and swamp borders throughout the SE States, as well as a few locations in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. This species has greenish to maroon stems and several noticeable maroon to brownish-yellow flowers with white, purple-striped lips.
