It grows in moist, open woodlands in the mountains of the above listed areas. The green flowers are nearly microscopic and the plant easily overlooked. I was fortunate to see one in bloom during a August trip to SE Arizona. Don't ask how I mananged to see it for they really blend in with the surrounding grasses!
