I'm leaving this as a neutral so far because I don't know how this plant will perform over the long haul. I've only had it since last sp...Read Morering. I bought one gallon pot of it at the nursery with no knowledge of the plant at all. Divided it into 4 clumps when I planted it. It bloomed beautifully all summer and I fell in love with it. I collected tons of seed but didn't deadhead as I should have, so may have many more volunteers than I would like. I have traded for seeds of the purple and white varieties. It was covered with bees all summer, and with the bee populations in jeopardy, it may be worth planting for that alone.

Many spikes of flowers in mid summer. Each spike holds its many flower buds in rows which open sequentially from bottom to top. Drought resistant. Its common name arises from the ability of the individual flowers to hold any position you fancy to give them. Will take any space you give it, making a glorious show en masse. Good cut flower, Best selection for the coldest areas (zones 3 & 4), not for the Gulf states.
