The absolute glory and centerpiece of our garden when in bloom. And the way bumblebees roll around on them to get the bright orange pollen is hilarious. Yes, they're a bit fussy, but well worth attempting; just treat them well. Plant in a cluster where they'll be centrally visible, behind something at mid-height to conceal the foliage as it shrivels in July. The root structure is also fascinating, octopus-like. Five stars if PlantFiles had them!

You may not cut them off, so it's best that you plant them near perennials or herbaceous shrubs that starts to grow big when Eremurus starts to die back. Just cover the ugly leaves. I'm always looking forward in excitement for their blooming ...counting the buds early spring, covering them for late nightfrosts...every year...they are like fireworks..short time blooming but oooh...so pretty!
