Although only about 3.5' tall, we will cut back to the live area of the stem and see what happens. What I am learning is that this plant is much hardier than what I had been told when I bought it. By the way, it was so beautiful when we purchased it. Keeping fingers crossed!

The area gets lots of summer afternoon sun and less sun the rest of the year. I just noticed that one plant has powdery mildew, which probably spread from some Magic Carpet Spirea nearby. Now, as we go into fall, there is less and less sun back there. I'm not sure if I'll spray with some sulfur, or just prune out the mildewed branches. Other than a little mildew, they seem to be doing fine. Any ideas? I have a very small lot and no place to transplant these expensive plants.
