Being a native of Brazil, as is typical for members of this genus, it likes humid conditions, like those in tropical rain forests, but it does not like to be over-watered. I have found that these plants are not particularly fussy about their soil type and will happily grow in straight peat. This plant also adapts to shade more readily than do the more colorful types of Cryptanthus, which tend to discolor in that situation. Generally speaking, Green Earth Stars can be grown almost anywhere indoors but are especially suited for terrarium culture.
