First, it hails from the western Himalayas (most of the ot...Read Morehers are European); second, it requires acidic soil (the rest prefer alkaline); third, the flowers are practically stemless with just a single flower (the other are usually have 2-3" stems with 2 or more flowers) and finally, the flowers are lilac-pink to light lavender (the others are yellow or white). For this reason, it is a very important parent in the creation of pink or purple-flowered hybrid Kabschias (some of these are among the most lovely of the saxifrages). Remember, acid soil (no lime) and well-drained.
