I grew this for this first time this season - in deck containers - & was quite pleased.
Seed was started indoors on 3/25, ...Read More& I ended up with 89% germination by 4/6. I considered this pretty good, as the seed was an old pack from 1995!! I didn't grow these back in '95 because the seed company had had a seed mixup & had sent me "Yellow Cayenne" in a "Lemon Belle" packet in error. By the time they realized the error & sent me the correct seeds, I already had the "Yellow Cayenne" going & put the "Lemon Belle" aside for another time. It worked out well for me though, as I got to try "Yellow Cayenne" for free, & like that variety as well.
Keeping in mind that these were container-grown plants, they reached about 18"-20" in height & produced about 8-10 peppers each. Fruit was medium-size & very nicely shaped - something you don't always get with all Bell Pepper types. In addition, they turned their lovely ripe bright yellow color fairly early, & stayed nice on the plant without rotting for quite some time after ripening. In fact, I still have several out there that I plan to stuff for dinner tonight. Flavor is nice & sweet - much nicer than the yellow Bell peppers one buys at the supermarket. I also was pleasantly surprised to find that they don't "repeat" on me digestively like many Bells do.
I still have some of these '95 seeds left (properly stored in airtight glass jars in a spare bedroom closet), & this is definitely a variety that I plan to grow next year in the garden.
