It is native to Oregon and Idaho where it grows on stony slopes at 2600-3000m elevation. A bit challenging in cultivation. It should be noted that most of the Parryi primula should not be divided as they are very prone to fungal infections. Even the old, dried-up leaves should be left on the plants to avoid open wounds.
