It is challenging in cultivation as the plant needs to be kept dry over the winter but needs plenty of moisture in spring and summer. This species is quite similar in appearance to P. parryi but is overall smaller.
Hardy in zone 3, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Not problematic to grow in this drier climate. Does not go dormant in summer here.
