I would like to share the result of winter survival experiment of
American Persimmon Campbell NC 10
planted in Toronto, Canada on June 28, 2015.
At the time of planting, the tree had two growing seasons after grafting, and height was 52 cm.
The plant survived winter of 2015/2016 in Toronto, Canada.
The lowest temperature was -24.7C on February 13, 2016.
Winter protection wrappings or paint sprays were NOT applied, and branches above snow were exposed to air.
The leading branch, with diameter 4 mm, survived.
Buds on the upper part of the leading branch also survived.
Many side branches, with diameter 2 mm were lost.
