This plant is endemic a...Read Morend native to the dry sandhills and Florida Scrub of central Florida. It occurs only in Highlands and Polk counties in central Florida (zones 9a and 9b). It loves full sun and dry, sandy areas and ridges and dunes.

Due to habitat destruction, it is sadly listed as endangered by both the U.S. and state of Florida. It is also known as Highlands Scrub Hypericum.

The flowers probably attract pollinating insects which pollinate the plant.

Synonyms are Sanidophyllum cumulicola Small.
