The foliage will burn in full sun---this needs protection from afternoon sun even here (Boston Z6a) to keep the leaves from burning. Like most forsythias, this blooms well even in shade.
This cultivar is more useful than most other forsythias for another reason: It's about half the usual size. It reaches 6' or so, but doesn't become a haystack of a shrub.
