This Escallonia is very widely planted here. Every 10 - 12 years it gets cold enough here to freeze it to the ground, but it springs bac...Read Morek to as much as six feet the next year. I have seen it pruned nearly to the ground in midsummer to make way for painting (down to wood with no leaves left), and it rebounded with no damage. It is one of the toughest plants I have grown.
