It has more resistance to heat and drought and, thus, the Bronze Birch Borer, than most white birches. I believe Chicagoland Grows markets some of this cultivar, but I have not seen any other specimen. (I prefer the native species of Paper Birch that has moderate resistance to the borer in USA Zones 5 & 6 and will at least live about 30 years in landscapes, and sometimes 60 years in the Chicago or Philadelphia, PA areas in cooler spots.) It is listed on this DG page as being able to grow down to USDA Zone 9, but I don't believe it. Maybe zone 7. Furthermore, if it does well in Chicagoland, it should grow well in soils with a pH of around 7.0, which is the most common reading there.
