This plant loves its location and has grown quite nicely in the 5 years we've had them. They were planted about 3-4' apart and now look as though they are one plant. It has begun to sucker a little but not in an invasive or annoying way. The thorns are not to be trifled with. Yellow flowers in the spring are beautiful when in full bloom. In harsh winters like '13-'14 it won't bloom and this spring after another poor winter, the blooms are just spotty. New growth is a burgundy bronze, which turns into dark green. Our plants have been evergreen through every winter so far. They are fairly sheltered from harsh winter winds though so this might not hold true in other locations. Winter color is a burgundy.
