The foliage reaches only about 12-20" tall. The flowers reach 20-32", and are bronze to gold with a faint tinge of purple. Both foliage and flowers disintegrate in the fall and do not provide winter interest.
This is a cool-seaon grass. It is a slow grower, and is most vigorous in cool-summer climates. It does not perform well in the hot humid summers of the eastern US south of Z7 where night temperatures often remain above 70F.
Performs best with consistent moisture---this is not very drought tolerant.
