"Serpentine fleabane, Erigeron serpentinus, an herbaceous perennial or sub-shrub found in richer and often moister sites at The Cedars. It too does not flower much, as most of the potentially flowering stems get a gall that resembles a bud (see below actual flower) but does not produce a flower unless new branches form from below.. This is somewhat atypical having only 8 ray petals, most having 9-13, though the asymmetric arrangement is typical . The color is always pale lilac (not white as stated in TJM2)."
