This summer we were devestated by Japanese Beetles and thi...Read Mores tree suffered alot of damage before we set traps out for the beetles. Nonetheless, it survived and still looks great. The leaves the beetles chewed are still hanging on - so it appears a little ragged. We love this tree for the simple fact its branch structure and small delicate leaves offer a finer texture to the overall look of our front yard. I would say this is my second favorite "ornamental" tree next to a Japanese Maple. Our tree has grown about 8 inches in height this year. I think carefully pruning the dead branches in early spring helped it fill out and grow a bit taller. In my opinion, this tree looks best when planted in front of a stone facade or other rough textured building material. The branches look as good in the winter as they do in the summer. I simply love this tree.
