I waited to see if perhaps I had pla...Read Morented something and forgotten about it, but within 3 weeks' time there were 2 dozen plants, and some had grown to about 18" tall. I finally took them to my local ag agent today, who identified them as Three-seeded Croton, or Croton lindheimerianus. He said they were annuals that appeared in disturbed soil, and agreed with me that the easiest and most earth-friendly solution would be just to pull them up. They come up easily, so I'll let you know if this works, or if it becomes a problem like last year's volunteer, the dreaded purple loosestrife.
