According to Flora of Alberta (Moss and Packer), C. uniflora occurs on alpine slopes. Its range is circumpolar, from NE Siberia, Greenland, and northern Europe to Alaska, Yukon to Ellesmere Is. to northern Quebec, Labrador, and Hudson's Bay and south to Montana and Colorado.
